Surroundings

At the Front Office you will find brochures and touristic information of the following sites.

Pordenone

It is the ancient Portus Naonis of Roman origins. At the time of Serenissima and the Austro-Hungarian dominion it was an active river port of merchant and cultural exchange.
Strolls are suggestive along the main streets of Pordenone, with its sixteenth-century buildings, the Romanesque churches, and the Gothic and Baroque palaces. The entire historical centre is defined by a long series of porticos, frescoed façades, cafés and shops
.

Spilimbergo

City of mosaic par excellence, it is the capital of mosaic art in Friuli. Here is located the prestigious School of Mosaic of Friuli, an internationally famed training centre, carrying on an artistic tradition whose origins lie in Aquileia, Bisanzio and Venice.

Valvasone

The medieval atmosphere of Valvasone offers unforgettable emotions. Following the castle walls, you will come across medieval houses and beautiful palazzos of great historical and architectural interest, enchanting views inspiring poets of times gone by. Do not miss the sixteenth-century pipe organ inside the cathedral.

San Vito al Tagliamento

A trove of prehistoric, Roman, medieval and Renaissance vestiges, the municipality boasts noble traditions both in history, culture and art. The Santa Maria dei Battuti Church is just one of the many beautiful buildings in the town, an unforgettable pearl of Friulian Renaissance.

Sesto al Reghena

Military site and supply station for the ancient Romans, it hosts a Benedictine monastery, jewel of medieval architecture.

Sacile

It is one of the most beautiful towns in the region and, thanks to the Venetian atmosphere found in many of its corners, it earned its title of “Giardino della Serenissima” (Garden of the Serenissima)

 Poffabro

Nestled in the charming setting of Val Colvera, Poffabro is listed in the Club of the 30 most beautiful villages in Italy, for its enchanting, simple and austere architectural elements. The stone houses, clustered together, form a delightful village where it is nice to get lost in its narrow streets, walking under the arches and end up in one of the several internal courtyards. On Christmas time, Poffabro offers a nice walk through small nativity scenes set up in alleys, courtyards and niches.

Andreis and Erto - Vajont

These are a marvellous example of the fascinating nature, culture and landscape of Valcellina. The main feature of these little villages, that are able to excite and offer a relaxing atmosphere in harmony with nature, is their spontaneous architecture of century-old tradition, which takes you back in time to a place where traditions and flavours are those of time gone by.

Villa Manin di Passariano (Codroipo)

The magnificent and harmonious villa constructed by the powerful Manin family between the 17th and the 18th century. This architectural gem was the residence of the last Doge of Venice, Ludovico Manin; it then went on to become the general headquarters of Napoleone Bonaparte.

San Daniele del Friuli

One of the standard-bearers of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s wines and foods, San Daniele ham summarises in one the whole concept of the bond between characteristic products and the land.

Udine

Just 45 minutes far, dominated by a hill and an impressive castle, Udine combines elegant architecture with the warm, rustic atmosphere of its osterie. A city packed with art and culture, home to traditional celebrations and international events.

Cividale

Julius Caesar’s Forum Iulii is home to countless artistic treasures, including the 15th century Cathedral, the famous Devil’s Bridge and the Lombard Temple, one of the most mysterious monuments of the High Middle Ages.

Collio

A garden-vineyard, in which 1,700 wineries produce 100 million bottles annually of splendid wine, among which some whites considered the best in the world. Excellent wines and enchanted landscapes, dotted here and there with little hamlets nestling amongst the vines. Here you will be welcomed by the various “doc” wine producers that preserve fabulous nectars.

Venzone

The ancient town destroyed by the 1976 earthquake, has been rebuilt exactly as it was in medieval times when it was at the height of its splendour, thanks to the persistence and hard work of the Friuli people. Declared a national monument, it is one of the finest examples of artistic renovation.

Sauris

In Sauris, a marvellous village of German origin, you stay in mountain-style houses in stone and wood. Here you will have to give in to the temptation of its exquisite prosciutto crudo. This cured ham has been produced from time immemorial, using original techniques and it’s slightly smoked to give an unmistakably sweet flavour. These hams are ideally served with the beers brewed in the Sauris di Sopra beer factory.

Aquileia and Grado

Aquileia was a city of great importance in the Roman Empire. Most of its ancient features are well-preserved and in the Basilica lies one of the most impressive mosaics in the world. It is the archaeological site par excellence; it has been inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO and is well worth a visit.

Grado, a naval port for Aquileia during the Roman Empire, today is a magical place for discovering nature, history, beaches and spas.

Trieste - Miramare

About an hour far, with its Habsburg charm and the Central European atmosphere of its cafés that were once the haunts of James Joyce and Italo Svevo, Trieste is a city of European art and culture. A visit to the Castle of Miramare, a pure pearl of rare beauty dominating the Gulf of Trieste and perfectly preserving its original furniture and decorations, is another must.
